Gecko compatibility

Smart WiFi control for Gecko hot tubs

Yes, you can add app control to a Gecko hot tub without replacing anything. Spapilot supports Gecko YE-3, YE-5 and YE-6 packs through a native Gecko integration, giving you remote control plus price-aware heating, fitted in about 30 minutes with no electrician.

How it connects to your Gecko system

Gecko Alliance systems communicate over the proprietary Gecko protocol. Spapilot ships with a native Gecko integration module that speaks that protocol directly, so it can read and steer temperature and heating on the pack you already own. Your Gecko pack keeps doing its job, Spapilot decides when heating happens so it lands on the cheapest electricity hours.

Verified Gecko systems

The systems below have been individually verified by the Zavepower engineering team. Status reflects real-world testing results.

Installation in five steps

  1. Remove the side panel. Locate the equipment side of your spa and remove the side panel. Most panels pop off with clips or a few thumb screws.
  2. Find the Gecko control box. Inside the compartment you will see the control box, a rectangular unit labeled Gecko. Unscrew its front panel to access the ports.
  3. Connect the Spapilot cable. Locate the communication port and plug in the Spapilot cable straight until it clicks. Screw the panel back on.
  4. Place the Spapilot device. Place the device as close to your WiFi router as possible for the best signal, and check signal strength before closing the panel.
  5. Connect in the app. Download the Spapilot app, tap Add new device, select your control system type and connect the device to your 2.4 GHz WiFi.

Common questions

Can I add WiFi control to a Gecko hot tub?
Yes. If your hot tub runs a Gecko YE-3, YE-5 or YE-6 pack, Spapilot connects to it through a native Gecko integration module and links it to your WiFi and the Spapilot app. The Gecko pack stays in place, nothing is replaced.
Is Spapilot an alternative to Gecko in.touch?
Spapilot is an independent controller that works with your existing Gecko pack. Beyond remote control it adds price-aware heating: it heats on the cheapest electricity hours and coasts through the expensive ones, which in.touch does not do.
Which Gecko systems are verified?
Gecko YE-3 (V2) and YE-5 (V2) are fully tested. YE-3 (V3) has partial support: core temperature and heating functions work, certain advanced features may not be accessible. If your pack is not listed, a free photo check confirms compatibility before you order.
What does partial support mean?
Partial support means core temperature and heating control works, which is what the price-aware saving depends on, but some advanced functions of that specific pack version may not be accessible through Spapilot.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
No. Installation is plug-in: remove the spa side panel, connect the Spapilot cable to the Gecko control box, place the device, and connect it to WiFi in the app. Most owners are done in about 30 minutes.
